Description
A classic uphill mountain biking route to one of the key Alpine Association support points in the Verwall mountains with an interesting downhill option. Coming from Galtür, the tour starts out from the Piel car park where hikers heading for the Friedrichshafener Hütte can also park. Around 200 m above, those who started out in Ischgl join the route. There are a total of 16 bends to tackle along the relatively even ascent of the forest road to complete the 600 m of elevation gain up to the mountain lodge. Cyclists are rewarded with magnificent panoramic views of the various mountains in the Silvretta and Verwall chains. The descent then follows the same route as the ascent. Right at the beginning and towards the end respectively, there is an interesting and signposted trail version which requires a certain degree of biking skill (S2 on the single trail scale). Please only use the specially designated trails and leave all the other paths for hikers – thank you!
