Intro
A challenging, high Alpine and very beautiful variation. Only recommended for highly experienced bikers.
Description
All bikers who cycle up to the Heilbronner Hütte lodge, still have some energy left and have a thirst for adventure are recommended to try this attractive variation. Just behind the lodge, a single trail leads up some 200 m into the picturesque Ochsental valley. You may need to push your bike over some sections, depending on your fitness level and bike. The route then follows some pretty trails to the head of the valley and from the Ochsensenke to the Muttenjoch you will need to push or carry your bike over 300 m of elevation gain. The effort is well worthwhile and the views from the 2,620 m pass are astonishingly beautiful. The trail down from the Joch also presents a real challenge and anyone without 100% command of their bike will have to keep getting on and off. The final 1.5 km to the Friedrichshafener Hütte lodge (page 34) run along a forest path.
Arrival
The autoroute (A12 (westbound) or A14 (eastbound)) leads you to the Arlbergschnellstraße (S 16). At the exit for Pians, turn onto the Paznauntalstraße (B 188) and follow its course into the Paznaun.
Parking

Public transport
With the railway station in Landeck, the Paznaun is optimally connected to the Austrian train network. From Landeck-Zams station, only a short bus ride separates you from the Paznaun. Every half hour, line bus 260 runs from there through the valley.
